∞ Wilhelm Felix Krahnstoever-Böhler (1897-1983)

Käthi, (daugther of Hans and Ida Hitz) was born and raised in Klosters. She was artistically talented and worked as a dressmaker for Georges Pitoëff (1884-1939), famous director of the Russian theater in Geneva. Already in the 20ies, she travelled with her husband to exotic places like Mexico and Haiti, where she met Gaugin. Since 1932, she lived in Summerland, B.C., Canada, on the border of the lake Oka- nogan, in a romantic farm house. Her husband encouraged her artistic work capturing scenery and people, many Indian subjects, on Gobelin; she was in fact an artist with wool and silk. Besides selling some, Käthy donated several to the Royal British Columbia Museum in Victoria, to family and friends. You can see some on the visual records of http://search.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca.

Käthi enjoyed her garden and a glass of wine, lived modestly but was generous and attached to the family. Further, she liked to correspond with many friends worldwide.

Krahn was born and raised in Austria from a wealthy family (Böhler Stahlwerke). He was the 5th and last child (?), the black sheep of the family, as he used to say. He studied engineering, lived in Geneva, invented the Trigouni (?) cramp iron used on mountain climbing shoes and later in his life, a turning water sprinkler. He emigrated to North Africa where he started a plantation. Years later he settled in Summerland, in the beautiful Okanogan valley. Together with a friend, they cultivated fruits of outstanding quality, thanks to the micro climate. They also raised sheep.

Krahn was rather special: he loved wild nature, did not want children, never worked for somebody else. He liked to climb mountains, ski, fish and cook.
